Roy Carroll II

Roy Carroll is the founder, Chairman and CEO of The Carroll Companies, one of North Carolina's premier real estate development firms. Under his direction, The Carroll Companies has branched from single family custom home development in the early 80s to multi-family, commercial and office development today. In the last 9 years, the firm has built and/or has under construction more than 8,000 apartments representing an asset value of more than $640 million making The Carroll Companies one of the regions largest owners of multi-family properties. The Carroll Companies continues to increase its market share of new home sales in the Triad, having closed over 620 homes in 2006 and 2007 combined.

While The Carroll Companies is best known for its luxury single family and multi-family developments and visionary mixed-use urban centers, Carroll has also branched out into industrial, commercial and office developments.

The company is one of the largest land owners in the Triad and continues to look for projects that are innovative and add value to the community. One such current project is Carroll's current involvement in the 17 story Wachovia building. This building has remained vacant for over 15 years and is in the very heart of downtown across from the new City Park. Carroll has developed plans to redevelop this building into a mixed use project with 97 luxury condominium units, offices and retail. When completed, this project will go from a visual and financial blight on the City, to a modern styled hub of housing, business and shopping. Just recently, Mr. Carroll was named the 2006 Downtown Greensboro Person of the Year by Downtown Greensboro Inc. and named one of the Triad’s Most Influential People in 2006 and 2007 by the Triad Business Journal.

In addition to Carroll's business commitment, he is also committed to several civic endeavors. Three year’s ago, The Carroll Companies started a new program termed "Building an End to Diabetes." In 2006 and 2007, with the assistance of business associates, The Carroll Companies built, sold and donated approximately $324,000, the proceeds from the sale of new homes, to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a program that The Carroll Companies will continue each year. Carroll and staff members are actively working on packaging this program so that other builders across the US can participate. Carroll is also a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society and worked this past year with The Samaritan's Purse organization donating $50,000 for a water purification system for a village in Southeast Asia. Carroll also sponsors various art programs and projects in the community. He is married and has three children.
